Brecht Park in Evershagen: Apartments still available for families and seniors!
In Evershagen, Rostock, things are progressing in the “Brecht-Park” residential area. Construction work is progressing quickly, and two residential buildings for the “Living by the Park” project and an eleven-story high-rise are nearing completion. The first residents have been at home in the “Brecht-Riegel” since 2022. The entire district includes 175 apartments, 90 of which are subsidized. It is therefore clear that a socially mixed housing offering is being created here that appeals equally to families, singles and seniors, as the Ostsee-Zeitung reports.
The housing options in “Brecht Park” are diverse. Both publicly subsidized and privately financed apartments in various sizes are planned. These range from a compact 26 square meters to a spacious 114 square meters. Each apartment impresses with floor-to-ceiling windows, a balcony or terrace and is of course barrier-free accessible via elevator. In addition, the residential groups in the high-rise are characterized by a well-thought-out design - ten barrier-free apartments and a common room promote interaction between the residents.
Social mix and modern facilities
A special highlight are the 21 subsidized apartments in the high-rise building, which are very attractive with a basic rent of 7.40 euros per square meter. In comparison, the ten apartments and 33 privately financed apartments cost 11.30 euros per square meter. Interested parties should hurry as there is still some capacity available. Karolin Dobbert, who has been living in one of the 69 social housing apartments since May 2022, is happy with her three-room apartment, which costs just 6.60 euros per square meter and is equipped with smart technologies. This offer is of particular interest to young families or seniors in the district. Brecht Park is growing and demand is high!
Another big advantage of the project is the technical facilities. Photovoltaic systems are installed on the roofs of the “bar” and supply the apartments with a portion of electricity. In addition, a tenant electricity model for “Living at the Park” is planned, which will enable residents to use environmentally friendly energy.
Environment and sustainability
The improvement of the living environment is not neglected. Future plans include sports equipment, seating and a chessboard to encourage active use of the outdoor areas. This means that future tenants will not only have access to modern living spaces, but also attractive leisure options, which will significantly increase the quality of life in Brecht Park.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the entire district took place in August 2020 and the foundation stone for the high-rise was laid in May 2023. According to current forecasts, the first tenants can move in from autumn 2025, while the last ones are expected by spring 2026. The total cost of the project is around 41 million euros, a clear indicator of the large-scale approach of this initiative.
The construction project is not only a milestone for the city, but also offers an important opportunity to create housing that meets the needs of current tenants. Those interested can find more information about the project and the subsequent tenders for the apartments on the housing cooperative's website or on the Ostsee-Zeitung website and wgsh.de.
