DFB Cup 2025: The first games promise excitement and emotions!

The DFB Cup 2025 is just around the corner and promises exciting encounters for the fans! In the first round, a total of 64 teams will fight for the coveted title, with VfB Stuttgart entering the race as defending champions. A total of 32 games are scheduled for the first round, which will take place over several exciting days, starting on August 15, 2025.

The games begin on Friday, August 15th with an interesting match between FC Gütersloh and 1. FC Union Berlin. The Gütersloh stadium has increased its capacity to over 10,400 spectators and is already sold out. With around 4,000 fans from Berlin, the duel will be an experience! Immediately afterwards, 1. FC Saarbrücken meets 1. FC Magdeburg, where the Magdeburg fans have to travel a long distance of almost 600 km. Things are looking good here too – almost 15,000 tickets have been sold, around 1,850 of which are for away fans. In the third game of the evening, DSC Arminia Bielefeld and SV Werder Bremen play. This match took place in the quarter-finals of the previous season and is also sold out.

An exciting weekend

But the DFB Cup has even more up its sleeve! There are several games scheduled for Saturday, August 16th. FK Pirmasens awaits Hamburger SV and can look forward to a sold-out stadium with 10,000 tickets. The fans even mobilize for a jersey ride! At 3:30 p.m. Eintracht Norderstedt and FC Sankt Pauli will duel, with the Hamburg supporters calling for a meeting at the Altonaer Balcony. In the same time window, FC Hansa Rostock will play against TSG Hoffenheim, where the Suptras Rostock would like to appear at the stadium in white. The day ends with the game between VfB Lübeck and SV Darmstadt 98, where a fundraiser is organized by the Pappelkurve and 1,300 guest tickets were sold.

There are two more games on the agenda on Sunday, August 17th: Blau-Weiß Lohne meets SpVgg Fürth, while Hallescher FC plays against FC Augsburg. Here, fans are encouraged to wear retro jerseys and gather to support the team at a fan march at 1:30 p.m.

Monday and the return of the cup sensation

Monday, August 18th brings two interesting encounters: SG Dynamo Dresden welcomes 1. FSV Mainz 05, with the Ultras Dynamo calling for the meeting in yellow. The highlight of the evening will be the match between Rot-Weiss Essen and Borussia Dortmund, where the people of Essen will be asked to wear red jerseys and bucket hats – a real explosion of color!

The first round of the DFB Cup promises a lot of excitement and emotions. Another highlight is coming up on Tuesday, August 26th, when BTSV Eintracht will play against reigning cup winners VfB Stuttgart. The game against FC Bayern Munich, originally scheduled for August 27th, will also be postponed, putting even more focus on this fascinating encounter.
