Großer Pohl: New residential area planned for 1,200 apartments in Rostock!

An ambitious project is in the starting blocks in Rostock: a new development plan for the residential area on Groten Pohl will be presented to the public at the end of October. The former allotment garden has been lying fallow for years and is now to be converted into a livable district with up to 1,200 apartments. This has that NDR reported. The documents for this second draft will also be available online. Anyone interested can study the planning documents and submit comments to the city administration until the end of November.

The 30-hectare site on the southern ring has great potential and construction preparations have been underway for some time. However, there were various delays in this process. Therefore, the preparations for the allotment garden are an issue that the city is keeping an eye on. In keeping with this, there will be a talk on NDR on October 27th in the Rostocker Kunsthalle at 8 p.m., which will deal with the topic of “Living in Rostock”.

Public inspection of the planning documents

If you would like to delve deeper into the details, you can access the documents about the development plans and corresponding statutes online. According to the Rostock city administration, these are non-binding, while the sealed originals are authoritative. Inspection is possible during normal office hours. There is also a practical search function on the city's website, which makes it easier to find the development plans, like this Rostock town hall emphasized.

The plans are very diverse, and for those interested it is worth taking a look at the projects that already exist and are currently being planned. A list of these areas, including B plan numbers, can also be viewed online. These include various residential and commercial areas such as “Living at the Werftdreieck” or “Eulenwandel”.

Rostock has big plans, and the second development plan could not only give the city additional living space, but also a lively identity. The growing living space is needed, and with this project the city could take a step in the right direction.
