Hollerbach no longer in the running for coaching job in Liège!

Football never sleeps and that was clearly evident again in the last few days. The spotlight is currently on Bernd Hollerbach, who was recently fired as coach of Hansa Rostock. As the Ostsee-Zeitung reports, he is no longer in the running for the coaching position at Standard Liège. The reason for this are differences with sports director Marc Wilmots, who did not consider Hollerbach's wish to hire his entire coaching team to be feasible. Baltic Sea newspaper

Hollerbach, who is now 55 years old, took over Rostock in the summer of 2024 after they were relegated to the second division. But after a modest start to the season with just 10 points from 11 games, it was over for him at the end of October. Interestingly, he is still on the Koggenkicker payroll. The future of the former coach seems uncertain, especially since his colleague Karel Geraerts, who most recently worked at Schalke, has also dropped out of the running for the coaching position in Liège. Geraerts worked with Wilmots until September 2024 and is now also looking for a new challenge. Mirror

A new wind for Liège?

When looking for a new coach for Standard Liège, Jonas de Roeck, 45 years old, is very popular. He managed league rivals Royal Antwerp until the beginning of March and could be the key to a breath of fresh air in Liège. This coaching carousel during the summer break shows once again that patience in football rarely lasts long.

Coach changes are not uncommon in the Bundesliga. Over the last 60 years, since the 1963/1964 season, there have been countless changes, often accompanied by unrest and dissatisfied fans. Statistics from Statista show that coaching changes are a familiar constant in Bundesliga history and this season will certainly be no exception. Statista

The question that remains is where the journey will lead for the affected coaches and who will be next on the list of changes - football remains exciting!
