Julia Brusch: The young team manager conquers Hansa Rostock!

Julia Brusch, the young team manager of FC Hansa Rostock, shows that you can also play management in male-dominated football. At just 23 years old, she has found her dream job in the heart of the third division professionals and is bringing a breath of fresh air into the club's structures. The Ostsee-Zeitung reports that Brusch has been responsible for the team's organizational matters since the beginning of the season and has quickly made a name for himself.

However, the Rostock native's roots lie far away from the Hanseatic city. Growing up in a small village between Gnoien and Dargun, her father inspired her to play football. At the age of 12 she already felt the desire to work in football. She fully realized this dream after spending a year working and traveling in Australia after graduating from high school in Teterow. After returning to her roots, she decided to change the direction of her academic career from law to business administration with a focus on sports management.

A certain knack for the sport

In April 2022, she began her internship at Hansa Rostock in the finance department and gained valuable experience in the areas of marketing and ticketing. These skills stood her in good stead when she was promoted to team manager of the U23 and later the professional team after her internship ended. She is the link between the players and the coaching staff and is described by the players as a “kind-hearted soul”. This friendly nature helped her to build a positive relationship with the protagonists on the pitch.

The Hansa Rostock team is currently in a state of upheaval. According to Bild, there have been some changes in the functional team. With assistant coach Simon Pesch leaving the club due to different views on cooperation, and other departures among the staff, such as head physiotherapist Olaf Wehmer and team manager Maria Wallenborn, the functional team is under considerable pressure. The new appointments are an exciting challenge, especially for Brusch, who is now responsible for the first team.

Sporting challenges and personal goals

Julia recently also worked at the training camp in Neuruppin, where she was busy with organizational tasks from morning to night. Her commitment and resilience make her a valuable force in the team. In addition to her professional activity, she has another great passion: running. To increase her endurance, she has already taken part in several marathons, including the Berlin Marathon and the Vienna Marathon, which shows that she is in top shape not only in football, but also in sports.

Although women continue to be underrepresented in leadership positions in football, as Spiegel notes, Julia Brusch is an example of how things can be different in the industry. With all her passion and commitment, she shows that football will need more female leaders in the future. Her career has just begun and it will be interesting to see where her journey will take her.
