Paula Huth shines: Golden future for Rostock's young triathlon talent!
The 2025 triathlon season already brings exciting news. For many athletes in Germany, the peak of the competition season has been reached. Paula Huth from TC FIKO Rostock particularly stands out among the promising talents. According to a report by Northern Courier She met the nomination criteria of the German Triathlon Union (DTU) twice.
Paula was able to secure the silver medal at the national championships in Roth and also took second place in the DTU Youth Cup. These successes are no coincidence; The young athletes have achieved a lot in youth development. A look at the squad classification for 2026 shows that TC FIKO Rostock is experiencing positive development and hopes of being called up to the junior squad II (NK2) are high.
Competitive achievements and perspectives
With her recent achievements, Paula Huth underlines her ambitious rise. She successfully mastered the change from the B-youth to the A-youth in the sprint distance (0.75-20-5 km). The club is already planning to have Paula compete in the Junior European Cup next year, with the clear goal of qualifying for the 2026 Junior European Championships.
But Paula is not the only athlete with potential. Junior Anton Lange unfortunately missed the NK2 qualification due to a wheel crash during pre-season preparation - an unfortunate turn of events. Hedi Winkelmann, who is also part of the successful trio at TC FIKO in Berlin, is aiming to defend her title at “Youth Trains for Olympia”.
Successes in the senior sector
The statistics for the other athletes on the TC FIKO Rostock team also look promising. Maxim Hoffmann took sixth place at the German Championships in Dresden and in the DTU Youth Cup. Hedi Winkelmann, who had to fight her way to ninth place in the same championship, also shows consistently good performances. Hedi, Maxim and Enno Wendt also represent the Christophorus Gymnasium in Berlin at “Youth trains for the Olympics”.
In addition, in the Cup of the Triathlon Regional Association of Youth A, Niklas Merkord and Hanna Bernecker and Niclas Merkord lead their respective classes in the A-students. Julian Lange is on the rise in the B area, while Tilda Huth and Nila-Luise Meyer are on par. Particularly noteworthy is Kaarlo Fritz Tautorat, who leads the C-Class.
Nomination and expectations
The nomination criteria set by the DTU are based on performance in international competitions. The Competitive Sports Committee makes the final nomination decision, with various factors such as the World Triathlon Ranking and the health condition of the athletes having an influence. Changes to the nomination guidelines are not excluded, in particular through decisions of the international association World Triathlon.
The framework training concept for young athletes, which is based on modern sports science findings, focuses on long-term performance development. This supports the young talents in creating a solid foundation for their sporting careers, as stated in the publication IAT/DTU is to be read.
In the coming months we can look forward to seeing how the young athletes develop and which talents will make the leap onto the big stage of triathlon. The 2025 triathlon season will definitely remain exciting!
