A studio full of memories
Rosa Loy describes her studio as an “ordered chaos” in which numerous colors and pigments come together. Her works are not only works of art, but also memories - especially of sunny childhood days, which significantly influence her creative work. In her images, female figures often appear in natural scenarios, and she combines these depictions with a distinct “female gaze.” [ndr.de informs that all works for the Rostock exhibition have already been sold.]
The artist has her roots in Zwickau, where she was born, and grew up in Leipzig. She studied at the University of Graphics and Book Art and found inspiration and home in the Spinnerei, a well-known center for contemporary painting in Leipzig. Here she works together with her husband Neo Rauch, who has achieved similar success in the art scene. Over the last few decades, both have formed a dynamic artist couple whose works often focus on themes of femininity and beauty. rosa-loy.de highlights that…
Art through the ages
Rosa Loy's works are characterized by the combination of traditional art with contemporary themes. Her depiction of nature is often lively and animated, which makes the viewer think. The images create a meditative atmosphere and invite inner reflection. Curated by art historian Tereza de Arruda, a space is being created that focuses on female perspectives and celebrates the power of nature.
The Kunsthalle Rostock is supported by various institutions, including the Hanseatic and university city of Rostock and the Ministry of Science, Culture, Federal and European Affairs Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. So if you are in the region, this exhibition is an absolute must! Not only an impressive artist's journey awaits you, but also the opportunity to lose yourself in the magical world of Rosa Loy.
