Rostock's new Café am Pavillon” enchants with unique cakes!
A new gem has established itself in Rostock's southern city, which is not only known for its delicious cakes, but also for its cozy atmosphere. The “Café am Pavillon”, run by Christin Liebscher (26) and Manuela Rettig (53), already attracts many guests and has quickly made a name for itself. At the beginning of the year, the two entrepreneurs fulfilled their dream of being self-employed, relying on creativity and regional products.
The café, which is located at Satower Straße 132 directly opposite the New Cemetery, scores with a tempting offer. There are several cakes and up to ten different sheet cakes to choose from every day. Particularly noteworthy is the sawdust cake, which Liebscher is convinced is unique. “We want everyone to feel comfortable and enjoy themselves with us,” says the young café owner.
A retreat for mourners
But the “Café am Pavillon” offers more than just sweet treats. It has also established itself as a retreat for cemetery visitors. The local population welcomed the opening of the café enthusiastically, especially the mourners, who appreciate the place for small, closed funeral gatherings. Up to 15 people can hold individual funeral services there, a special service that the café offers.
The opening was a complete success, and the positive feedback from the community shows that the operators have a good handle on the needs of their guests. Before the café, there was already an undertaker and a bakery at this location, but Liebscher and Rettig's innovative idea quickly caught on.
New on offer: breakfast for every taste
From November, the “Café am Pavillon” will adjust its opening hours. The café will now be open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but will remain closed on Sundays and Mondays. Also new on offer are four different breakfast variations, prepared with fresh, regional ingredients. The freshly brewed coffee is also one of the highlights of the offer, as you won't find vending machine coffee here.
