Rostock's water jumper in need: Refurbishment of the Neptune Hall is coming!
An exciting day for the water jumpers in Rostock: During the NDR cultural program campaign "United in the north", moderator Julia Westlake visited the water jumper club Rostock. In the historical ambience of the Neptune Hall, she spoke to Jaden Eikermann, a two -time Olympium, who not only refined the German Championships 2020 with a gold medal, but was also able to take part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024. This encounter not only emphasizes the sporting ambition in Rostock, but also throws a light on the challenges that the club faces.
The Neptune Schwimmhalle, which is located at Kopernikusstraße 17 and is equipped with a 25-meter pool for Springer, faces extensive renovation work. The chairwoman of the association Annette Rösler formulated a clear request to NDR culture: support for the athletes who could get into trouble before the Junior Championships at the end of November. Ole Rösler, a talented water jumper, describes the hall as its "second home".
renovation requirement of the Neptune Hall
The Neptune Hall, a new building from the 1950s with a reinforced concrete binder construction, urgently needs a renovation. According to the Koe-Rostock report, the roof is urgently renovated due to massive heat losses. The planned measures include the installation of a PV system for reducing electricity costs, static content with additional steel carriers and the replacement of the hall corner for an acoustic ceiling. The work begins at the beginning of the summer closing period 2024 and are expected to continue until 2026.
The financial means for the extensive project amount to around 7.40 million euros, with further savings of around 4,700 euros annually with limited use. For the water jumpers, the upcoming closure of the 25-meter hall during the summer holidays means a challenge because the next training facilities are difficult to reach.
improved training conditions ensured
The situation of the water jumpers could improve beyond the Neptune Hall. Under the Dubisthalle News we learned about the successful renovation of the diving tower in Halle-Neustadt. There the diving tower was equipped with new rubber cork coverings, which significantly improve the training conditions. This measure was strongly supported by City Councilor Andreas Wels, even Olympic silver medalist in water jumping.
The renovation of the hall in Rostock may still be standing, but the association hopes to secure future success in water jumping through the focus on optimal training conditions. With the support of NDR culture and the constant passion of the athletes, the future of jumping in water in Rostock could be radiant.
