Seawolves disappoint in Porto: Loss in the Europe Cup shocks fans!
Yesterday evening brought bitter disappointment for the Rostock Seawolves in the Europe Cup. They had to admit defeat against FC Porto with 75:87, after they were even in the lead at one point. After the game, coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz was dissatisfied with his team's defensive performance, which failed to contain the Portuguese's strong attacks. The score was not in their favor after quarters with 20:22, 21:19, 19:28 and 15:18.
It was an exciting duel in the first half, which ended in a draw 41:41 at halftime. In the third quarter, however, the Seawolves seemed to shine, temporarily leading 54:50, but were unable to maintain this lead. On the Rostock side, TJ Crockett was the top scorer with 12 points, followed by Schwartz with 13 and Nicholson with 10 points. Meanwhile, FC Porto players Davis and Dunn showed an outstanding performance with 24 points each.
Big challenge with fouls
A key factor in the game was the Seawolves' foul load. Andy van Vliet received a technical foul and had to watch in the final phase, which further weakened the team. Four other players also had four fouls each, which severely limited Rostock's tactical options.
Despite this defeat, the Seawolves remain leaders in Group B of the Europe Cup. Their next game is against Tartu Rocks in Estonia on November 4th and the team will be hoping to turn things around there.
Fans on a trip to Europe
However, disappointment with the match result did not stop some of the loyal fans from enjoying their stay in Porto. Norman Bähr and Nico Peters took the opportunity and planned to visit the city. Porto, known for its stunning architecture, historic old town and delicious wines, has much to explore. Rostock itself, as the city administration notes, combines tradition and modern lifestyle and has something to offer for everyone - from brick Gothic to a lively gastronomy scene.
Rostock is rich in cultural and historical treasures, and the brick churches of St. Marien and St. Peter are just a few of the impressive sights. In addition, the city's maritime flair is underlined by events such as the Hanse Sail, which is taking place for the 30th time this year.
A look into the future
With the upcoming continuation of the Europe Cup and the challenges that the next games will bring, it remains to be seen whether the Rostock Seawolves can find their form again. The fans are hoping for an exciting season and a return to their old strengths.
