Fire brigade Warnitz celebrates 65 years: strong anchors of the community!
The Warnitz volunteer fire brigade celebrated a very special anniversary last Saturday: its 65th anniversary. Founded in 1960, it is not only an indispensable part of fire and disaster protection in Schwerin, but also plays a central role in the cultural and social life of the Warnitz district. Mayor Rico Baden Schier and military leader Jens Frehse enjoyed an all -round view of Warnitz from the fire brigade's turntable ladder during the celebrations. The head of the city emphasized how important the volunteer fire brigade is as a cultural point of contact for the community and how it significantly shapes social life.
The fire brigade was called to 76 missions last year, which is well above the average of around 50 missions per year. The fire brigade is also active in the neighboring district of Northwest Mecklenburg. The fire brigade currently has 39 active members, 8 reservists and 5 honorary members. In addition, the youth fire brigade was able to record 16 active young people, with a waiting list waiting for other interested parties. In view of the great interest, the fire brigade already has plans for an extension to the existing tool shed in order to further improve the operational capacity and to create space for the equipment.a strong sense of community
Mayor Sebastian Ehlers thanked for the long -term commitment and the outstanding social function of the fire brigade. Military leader Jens Frehse expressed the desire for a second fire truck in order to meet the requirements of the operations even better. The fire brigade is seen as an anchor in the Warnitz district, where not only fire and disaster protection is in the foreground. Annual events such as the Easter fire or lantern removals bring together the community and strengthen the sense of community.
perspectives for the future
There is a special focus on the youth work: the youth fire brigade is an essential foundation for the future of the fire brigade. However, the lack of space is a challenge here, since only up to 16 children and adolescents can be trained. In order to take into account the increased need, extensions of the accommodation options for the equipment and the purchase of a container are planned for other children and adolescents. The fire brigade Warnitz calls for donations to secure the necessary funds for the container acquisition and equipment.
The Warnitz fire brigade has established itself as a powerful and reliable partner in the community. With clear ideas of the future, she is ready to meet the challenges of the coming years and continue to be a valuable member of the local social structure. Schwerin-Lokal reports that the fire brigade is high in the community and will continue to exist with its strong community.
