On June 22, 2025, two stolen Pedelecs and a moped were quickly found in Schwerin thanks to attentive witnesses. In Weststadt and the Großer Dreesch district, the police were called to an operation that was ultimately a success. A Pedelec, estimated to be worth around EUR 1,800, had been stolen the night before. After a tip from a passer-by, the bike was confiscated at Marienplatz, and the suspected owner was immediately found. Although the Pedelec was newly painted, the frame number made identification possible.

But that wasn't all: the suspect's companion had a second Pedelec with him, which had been reported stolen in Lower Saxony just four days earlier. Both Pedelecs have now been seized and will be returned to their rightful owners following a criminal investigation. The two men responsible for the theft are German citizens.

Another stolen moped

On the same night, a “Simson” moped was stolen from the Großer Dreesch district. An attentive witness noticed the vehicle in the bushes near Crivitzer Chaussee and immediately informed the police. This moped was also identified using its special features and was handed over to the original owner after careful forensic investigation. The Schwerin police would like to thank the whistleblowers for their support, which made a significant contribution to solving the crimes.
