In the picturesque old town of Schwerin, the popular “Light Stroll” event will shine again in all its splendor from October 17th to 19th, 2025. From Pfaffenteich to Schmiedestrasse, visitors can expect a weekend full of magical lights, musical performances and captivating activities. A highlight will be the “Night of Photography” on Friday evening, which will be organized by the photography group “Trigger” and will show impressive photo projections. Topics include live concerts and impressive photographs of nature, such as the photo film “A Village in Our Time” and the nature series “Underwood”.
The light stroll becomes an experience with various illuminations in the city center, including spectacular light installations in places such as the Kressmann department store, the St. Anna Church and the town hall. On Friday and Saturday, the south bank of the Pfaffenteich becomes the scene of electronic beats, when DJs keep the atmosphere going until late into the night. Live music at the market will include bands The Earwigs and Static Pulse, while an exciting fire show and an impressive laser show will amaze visitors.
A colorful program for the whole family
The light stroll has established itself as a celebration for the whole family. From 4 p.m., the little ones can enjoy creative children's activities and a carousel at the Schlachtermarkt. A real highlight is the flashlight story time with Petra Dittmer, which will enchant the children from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In addition, stick bread around the campfire and make-up stations will ensure happy faces.
There are all kinds of musical accompaniment: Power Dance is offered free of charge at the market from 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., while DJ HO and Franky B get guests dancing on the Pfaffenteich south bank from 6:00 p.m. to midnight. The “Night of Knowledge” on Saturday, October 18th also offers an exciting parallel event with lectures, guided tours and hands-on activities.
Cultural experiences and guided tours
For those who would like to learn a little more about the city and its history, the Light Stroll offers two tours: a night watchman's tour and a flashlight tour, both of which start at the town hall. Participation costs 13 euros for adults and 11 euros for children. The experience is rounded off by an open church of St. Anna, which invites you to spend quiet moments in candlelight from 5 p.m.
