Magical film nights: Cinema under the sky in Schwerin from August 19th to 23rd!

A highlight in Schwerin's cultural calendar is just around the corner: the open-air summer film festival “Kino unterm Himmel” is celebrating its 10th edition! From August 19th to 23rd, the garden of the Kulturforum Schleswig-Holstein-Haus will be the setting for five enchanting film evenings. This event is organized by the Kulturforum Schwerin in collaboration with the “Kino unterm Dach” association.

The opening evening on Tuesday, August 19th promises musical fun with the band “Kulturstolle mit Speckstippe” before the first film, “Kings of Summer”, flickers on the big screen at 8.30 p.m. The festival is not only a celebration of films, but also a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Kulturforum. So there are two anniversaries to celebrate!

Film program and tickets

The program includes an exciting selection of films that the audience had a say in advance. Every evening, a short film from the FiSH Film Festival Rostock competition will be presented before the main screening.
Here is an overview of the films that audiences can expect:

  • Dienstag, 19. August: Könige des Sommers
  • Mittwoch, 20. August: Der letzte Takt
  • Donnerstag, 21. August: Der phönizische Meisterstreich
  • Freitag, 22. August: Monsieur Aznavour
  • Samstag, 23. August: Wunderschön – ein emotionales Highlight des Festivals

Tickets cost 11 euros, plus advance booking fee, and have been available exclusively online since August 1st at [kino-unterm-himmel.de](https://www. Schwerin.de/news/kino-unterm-himmel-2025/). For those who decide at short notice, there are 12 remaining tickets available at the box office on Puschkinstrasse. However, if you want to be on the safe side, you should act early, as the festival is very popular with the people of Schwerin.

A pleasure for the senses

But it's not just cinema that is spoiled here: regional specialties and refreshing drinks, provided by Stephanie Baak from Rauchhaus Möllin, ensure your physical well-being. Visitors can fully enjoy the open-air atmosphere with a good film and a cool drink.

The open-air cinema has a long tradition in Germany and is very popular. Examples such as the Wölfersheimer Kinosommer or the Seeheim-Jugenheim open-air theater prove that open-air films are simply part of it. A nice excuse to enjoy outdoor culture and meet up with friends, as openair-kino.com notes.

The anticipation for this year's “Cinema Under the Sky” couldn't be greater. The organizers have shown a good hand with their program and are looking forward to many film-loving visitors!
