New millions in Schwerin: Optimal for the future of children!
Johannes-R.-Becher-Straße, Schwerin, Deutschland - In Schwerin, the childcare offer for children is significantly expanded. Today, on July 15, 2025, the foundation for a new day care center of the John Brinckman elementary school was laid. The new building will be built on the property of the former "Gänseblümchen" daycare center in Johannes-R.-Becher-Straße and is intended to serve the increasing demand for after-school care places in the city.
The project, which is estimated with total costs of around 9 million euros, receives financial support from funding from the country and a special requirement assignment. Over 50 percent of the costs are thus funded, which makes implementation much easier for the city. The new after -school care center is to be completed in August 2026, just at the time when all children in Schwerin will have a legal claim to all -day after -school care. This means a big step towards improved reconciliation of family and work for many parents.
space for many children
The planned three -storey building will offer space for 16 groups, which corresponds to a total of 352 care places. With maximum capacity, an additional 23 places are provided by the double use of school rooms. The equipment of the after-school care center also includes 30 car parking spaces, including three with charging infrastructure for electric vehicles and several barrier-free parking spaces. These modern amenities are not only practical, but also environmentally friendly, because the roofs of the new building are greened and equipped with a photovoltaic system.
In order to realize the outside facilities of the hydropower, the old daycare building is first demolished as soon as the Peace School is expected to complete its renovation work in summer 2026. The completion of the outdoor facilities is then considered for spring 2027. Until then, it can be read in the Schwerin, the offer for the children is maintained by the existing offers in other facilities.
childcare times and financing
The new facility will offer all -day funding from Monday to Friday for up to six hours a day. This is a huge relief for working parents, since part -time funding can also be used for up to three hours a day. It is important to mention that the funding also applies during the holiday periods to take the needs of families into account.
Another advantage for parents in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is that they have been freed from parent contributions for day care for after-school care since January 1, 2020. This ensures additional relief for families, who have to take care of the care of their school -age children. [Government MV] (https://www. government-mv.de/landes government/bm/kindertagenfoerderung/hortbetreuung/) also reports that with increased need during the holidays, the costs of the local agencies of youth welfare can be covered if this is not reasonable.
In summary, it can be said that the laying of the foundation stone for the new after -school building is not only a sign of the growing city of Schwerin, but also makes a decisive contribution to improving the childcare situation for children and thus to relieve families.Details | |
