Schwerin launches major guest survey: Your opinion counts!
The Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Tourism Association has big plans for 2025. The state capital Schwerin is participating and is conducting a comprehensive guest survey. This nationwide survey takes place as part of the “Comparative Guest Monitor”, which is implemented in collaboration with Benchmark Services. The survey conducted by Tourism Association was initiated, is aimed at both overnight guests and day visitors.
From February 20, 2025 to January 16, 2026, more than 3,500 responses will be collected from across the state. Basic demographic data, travel habits and perception of the region are queried. One point that is particularly in focus is travelers' attitudes towards sustainability. This information is crucial to support tourism development in Schwerin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
Contents of the guest survey
A wide range of topics are covered. The survey includes:
- Demografie (Alter, Geschlecht, Herkunftsland & Bundesland)
The collected data will be presented in digital evaluation events from March 2026. This information is important not only for the city of Schwerin, but also for the entire Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania region.
Sustainability in tourism
An important aspect of the survey is the increasing awareness of sustainable vacation travel. According to one Study by the Federal Environment Agency By 2023, 49% of Germans had already expressed a desire for ecologically friendly vacations. Although travel temporarily became more climate-friendly during the Corona pandemic, many travelers returned to their usual patterns after 2022. This shows that although sustainability is becoming more and more important, it is still not the deciding factor when planning a trip.
For Schwerin, the survey is a golden opportunity to gain valuable insights into guests' preferences and demands. Tourism service providers such as hoteliers and hosts are also called upon to actively participate in the survey. You can contribute to large participation in the survey by advertising through online channels and printed materials.
In summary, it shows that tourism in Schwerin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania not only responds to the needs of guests, but also sets the course for more sustainable tourism. The results of the survey will make a significant contribution to shaping the tourism strategies of the future. Anyone traveling to Schwerin soon will not only have the opportunity to enjoy the city, but also to actively contribute to improving the tourist offering.
