Sports badge day in Anklam: Bronze, silver and gold for everyone!
On July 16, 2025, the sports badge day took place in the Werner-Seelenbinder Stadium in Anklam, Vorpommern-Greifswald district. Organized by the Vorpommern-Greifswald district sports association, an impressive number of 2,800 children from the region took part in the competitions. The day was not only a celebration of sporting achievements, but also provided a wonderful opportunity to promote health and physical fitness.
At this event, schools, clubs, companies, institutions and everyone interested were warmly invited to demonstrate their skills. Regardless of whether you have disabilities or not, inclusion was at the top of the agenda that day. Until 6 p.m., participants had the opportunity to receive the coveted award of the German Sports Badge from the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), symbolized by the levels of bronze, silver and gold.
The disciplines and the award
The German Sports Badge is awarded for extraordinary physical achievements in the areas of endurance, strength, speed and coordination. To achieve the Bronze level it is necessary to successfully complete one exercise from each of these discipline groups and proof of swimming skills is also required. KSB Vorpommern-Greifswald adds that the sports badge applies not only to children aged 6 and over, but also to adults aged 18 and over.
The disciplines offered are varied and include activities such as running, cycling, swimming, shot put and dancing. Each participant can choose the discipline that suits their individual strengths. Furthermore, the German Sports Badge is more than just an award; It is considered a “decoration of honor of the Federal Republic of Germany with a religious character” and is acquired by over 1 million people every year. German sports badge notes that over half of the participants actually receive the award, which underlines the motivation and success of the athletes.
