VfB Friedrichshafen celebrates a difficult 3-1 victory – Kohn shines!
Last Sunday, VfB Friedrichshafen played against SV Warnemünde in front of 513 spectators and won 3-1. While the game took place as part of the Volleyball Bundesliga, Simon Kohn demonstrated his outstanding form with 30 points and seven aces and was named the best player of the game. However, problems such as the low ceiling height in the arena and faulty serves detracted from the performance of coach Adam Swaczyna's men, who noted after the game that the almost 2,000 kilometer journey may have strengthened the team dynamic. VfB now has the same line-up as in their convincing 3-0 opening win against the BR Volleys.
The first set started promisingly, with a strong attack rate of 70%. But as the game progressed, the performance declined somewhat. The second set brought the first difficulties as VfB initially fell behind, but was able to fight back. The substitution of Marcus Böhme, who strengthened the block, had a positive effect on the dynamics of the game. With this victory, VfB Friedrichshafen jumps sharply up to fifth place in the Volleyball Bundesliga.
The look ahead
The players now have to prepare for the next match on Tuesday against SVG Lüneburg. A completely different opponent to look forward to. In the Volleyball Bundesliga, every encounter is crucial, and VfB knows this, but they can only pay attention to it when the ball is rolling with the coaching and the players. This season too, the league clubs have not lost any of their ambitions, as current developments show.
Speaking of current developments: The Volleyball Awards 2025, which were recently presented, brought exciting news. Over 7,000 fans took part in the election, which is a record. Erik Röhrs was named volleyball player of the year, while Lina Alsmeier was awarded this title for the volleyball players. These successes underline the importance of the league and the growing number of spectators, which provide a breath of fresh air and more dynamism.
Volleyball on the rise
Another exciting aspect is that this season the young players and coaches will also receive attention. Arthur Wehner was named Young Player of the Year and Stefan Hübner was named Coach of the Year. A healthy mix of talent and experienced staff is the key to the success of teams in the Bundesliga. VfB Friedrichshafen is therefore in an exciting phase not only due to its own performance, but also due to developments in the league.
Volleyball continues to be dynamic and the challenges it presents only show that the sport is on the rise. With a lot of commitment and strong performances, VfB Friedrichshafen has the best conditions to fight its way even further this season, while the league has more than just one game to offer for every fan.
