First health fair on Rügen: Important information for those affected!

A new era for the health and social sector on Rügen is dawning: Today the first trade fair for health and social affairs takes place at the Kaufland Center in Bergen on Rügen. This initiative enables visitors to obtain comprehensive information about various topics on Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A total of 20 exhibitors are available to provide valuable information ranging from levels of care to dementia and living wills. The fair is particularly aimed at those affected and their relatives and promotes direct exchange with the responsible contact persons, says the organizer Eva Wunsch from Ambulante Wunschbetreuung.

“We hope that this trade fair can take place annually and thus become an important contact point for people looking for help,” explains Wunsch. A special highlight of the event is a simulator that allows visitors to playfully understand the experiences of dementia - an approach that is both informative and sensitive.

A look at the topics

A wide variety of topics are on the agenda at the trade fair, including depression, home emergency call systems and funerals. By presenting these topics comprehensively, organizers hope to raise awareness of health and social challenges and provide information about available help.

Information about Medicare

Another significant point in health care is the online application for Medicare, which is now accessible to many even when not applying for retirement benefits. The application process typically takes less than ten minutes and can be conveniently completed online, as highlighted on the Social Security Administration website. Some beneficiaries are even eligible for additional help with Medicare prescription plan costs, provided they meet certain requirements such as limited resources and income.

The information brochure “Understanding the Extra Help with Medicare Prescription Drug Costs” provides further details and valuable information.

Common challenges in healthcare

For many people, accessing information and support from health and social services can be a challenge. The planned trade fair in Rügen could represent a solution to facilitate this access and create a platform for exchange. In addition, the development of the online Medicare application shows that digitalization is also gaining momentum in the healthcare sector and that resources can be used more sparingly.

Overall, the event on Rügen stands as a promising event in the service of the community and we will eagerly await what progress and responsibilities the fair will bring with it.
