Last chance! Green waste collection in Jarmen and Tutow is closing soon!

Those in charge of green waste in Jarmen and Tutow have to prepare for changes, as the public acceptance of garden waste is taking a winter break. The disposal option will be discontinued until next spring, as the Peenestadt administration and the municipality of Tutow have announced. The last chance for citizens to give away green waste free of charge is on Monday, November 10th, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Jarmen. In Tutow, acceptance ends one day later, on November 15th, between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

This step was due to the request of citizens who had asked for a longer opening time in view of the late fall of the leaves. Mayor Holger Schultz noted that the collection point in Tutow was particularly busy during the fall season, after being less busy in the summer months.

Alternatives to green waste disposal

With the closure of the collection points, citizens will lose a convenient option for disposal, but two public points of contact will still be available after November 15th. These are located in the recycling centers of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district, which can be found in Loitz and Gützkow. All private individuals can hand in up to one cubic meter of green waste there free of charge and thus avoid the waste being disposed of illegally. It is worth knowing that illegal dumping of waste, especially in forests, can result in hefty fines of up to 20,000 euros MDR Garden highlights.

Green waste includes not only branches and twigs, but also freshly cut grass and weeds. It is considered legal waste and should be disposed of properly to avoid unnecessary fines. The most common disposal options include compost, the green bin or containers, which can be rented for around 150 euros. A free and environmentally friendly alternative is composting - there are special regulations that should be followed in order to properly recycle and reuse your garden waste.

Environmental awareness and responsibility

The responsibility for the environmentally sound disposal of waste, including garden waste, lies in the hands of citizens. Even if the option of free disposal is temporarily disappearing, the message is: Use the existing options and avoid leaving waste in nature. Ultimately, trash often attracts more trash, which can create unsightly and dangerous landfills that pollute the environment.

In the interests of a healthy environment and sustainable waste disposal, it is crucial that citizens inform themselves and act responsibly in order to both protect nature and comply with legal requirements. In summary, it should be noted that acceptance will be temporarily stopped in Jarmen and Tutow, but there will still be alternatives in the area from December. This means you can dispose of your garden waste effectively and responsibly without having to forego the help of your community.
