With a special train to Berlin: Western Pomerania demands better rail expansion!
In Greifswald a lot is happening - locally and regional. On June 23, 2025, representatives from politics, administration, business, science and civil society made their way to Berlin with a special train from Sassnitz-Mugran. The aim of this trip was to gain the Federal Government for the expansion of the Western Pomerania Magistrals and to have direct discussions to improve rail connections. This Ostsee-Zeitung Reports about the important step, which is supposed to shorten the travel time to Rügen by about 30 minutes. The connection is central to the region that would benefit from the planned expansion.
And that's not all that Greifswald has in store! From August 24th to September 5th there is an exciting youth leisure time on Bornholm, organized by the Evangelical Propsteijugend Demmin. Here young people between the ages of 13 and 18 can look forward to a colorful program: beach volleyball, excursions, music and Christian impulses are on the agenda. You can be there for 450 euros, with discounts for those who need it - there are still some places!

The background of this movement can also be found in the so -called "Index for Inclusion in and through Sport", developed by the German Disabled Sports Association. This concept aims to promote an inclusive sports landscape and to raise awareness of inclusion. The index is a valuable guide that is intended to help sports associations and clubs to make their structures more inclusive. These efforts are supported by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and should help to participate in sports. Further information can be found on the DBS page: DBS .
So if you want to participate, you should register until June 25th to become part of this unique event. Whether at the run or at the Tenant Festival - Greifswald shows once again that everyone has a home here and everyone is welcome!
