Neuenkirchen: Village run breaks records – over 400 participants expected!
On June 15, 2025, the idyllic community of Neuenkirchen in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district will be the venue for the popular village run, which will most likely set a new participant record this year. More than 400 active sports enthusiasts have already registered, and there is great hope that the number of participants will be even higher than the approximately 120 endurance enthusiasts 15 years ago. How NDR 1 Radio MV reports, the participants come not only from the region, but also from cities such as Berlin, Rostock and Münster.
The village run offers a variety of disciplines, including running, walking, inline skating and handbiking, as well as a special family run over 999 meters. Families are particularly happy about this opportunity to take part with a stroller. An extensive cultural program that accompanies the competitions promises magical moments and an exuberant atmosphere.
The program in detail
The mayor will give the starting signal for the family run at 12:00 p.m. The student runs of 1.6 km and 3.2 km follow at 12:30 p.m., followed by the walkers and runners who take on the 6 km route at 1:00 p.m. Inline skaters and hand bikers start at 2:15 p.m., and for those who are slower there is the opportunity to ride freely on the closed road to Wampen from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The event starts at 10:30 a.m. with rock music from the band JaDe from Rostock, followed by African rhythms at 11:45 a.m. For the little visitors there will be the popular white unicorn on stilts at 12:15 p.m., and JaDe will provide music again from 2:00 p.m. In addition, Clown Hollino and the Puppenstelz puppet theater will perform in the circus tent from 1:15 p.m.
A strong team of helpers
The organization of the event is a joint project: Over 60 helpers, including the volunteer fire department, the university sports community at the University of Greifswald and students from the Bodden School, are on hand to make the day an unforgettable experience. Your efforts will be recognized with meal vouchers and a small expense allowance. If you are interested in getting involved, you can contact Tobias Nagel.
A particularly noteworthy point for everyone who wants to take part in competitions is the new internationally validated questionnaire for assessing health risks, which was developed by the Humboldt University of Berlin. This questionnaire is included in the registration process to make runners aware of preventive health care. The German Athletics Association recommends that the results be evaluated dermatologically athletics.de explained.
Everyone involved is looking forward to a day full of sport, fun and community. If the weather puts a damper on the plan, a shuttle bus will be offered between the Möbel-Albers parking lot and the community center so that everyone can easily get to the event.
