An accident on the B111 near Buddenhagen not only injured four people, but also brought anxiety about alcohol-related incidents to the fore.
How NDR Reportedly, a 54-year-old driver who was traveling on the B111 noticed a turning vehicle too late and had to slam on the brakes. There was a serious accident: his vehicle swerved, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with another car. During the accident, two people from the first two vehicles suffered life-threatening injuries and had to be transported to Greifswald Hospital. A third driver and his passenger were taken to Wolgast Hospital with minor injuries. The material damage is estimated at a whopping 55,000 euros.
Another incident with dramatic consequences
There was another accident that night in Tribsees, where a 20-year-old driver drove off the road and crashed into a tree. The young man became unconscious as a result of the impact and could only be freed from his vehicle by a first responder. NDR informed that the driver has left the scene of the accident. Luckily he was later found on a bike path. A breath alcohol test showed 2.3 per mille, which led to investigations into endangering road traffic and hit-and-run. The damage from this incident was around 15,000 euros.
Alcohol banks on the German streets
