Club Day: Historic site becomes a showcase in Wilhelmsburg!
In the charming community of Wilhelmsburg, in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district, a true festival of community will be celebrated on September 27, 2025. The “Day of Clubs” takes place in Eichhof and promises a varied program that is open to anyone interested from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. This event brings together the diversity of the local club landscape and offers the opportunity to spend time in a friendly atmosphere and gain exciting insights into the work of the various groups. As NDR 1 Radio MV reports, eight clubs will be represented, including the motorsport club, the fishing club, the volunteer fire department and the cultural club.
A special highlight of the day are the tours of the fascinating military-historical site of the former anti-aircraft missile department, where the remains of bygone times can be viewed. The mayor of Wilhelmsburg, Peter Weimer, who is non-party and also acts as an organizer, will open the day. Visitors can take part in two guided tours, which take place at 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Interest in this part of history is alive and well, and the opportunity to explore the bunkers where Soviet-made rockets were stored until 1990 arouses great curiosity. The site was once an important location where there were apartment blocks for soldiers as well as service and guard buildings, as the Nordkurier informs.
A wide range of clubs
On the day of the clubs, the participating groups have the opportunity to introduce themselves and their activities. The fishing club, the Volkssolidarität, the Eichhof sports club and the Wilhelmsburg volunteer fire department will present themselves with exciting program items and information. The diversity of the clubs reflects the social commitment of the community, in which cultural and helpful organizations are active in addition to sports. You can look forward to many conversations and interesting encounters.
What is also offered to visitors is the opportunity to talk to representatives of the clubs and perhaps even discover new hobbies. The Club Day is not only a meeting place, but also a platform for exchange and curiosity. Here everyone can experience how lively club work is and how important it is for the social structure of a community.
A look into history
For those interested in history, the Club Day is an excellent opportunity to find out about the military-historical use of the site. The Military History Working Group, for example, has set itself the task of promoting exchange and understanding about the history of the military and war. Founded in 1995, the working group promotes interdisciplinary exchange and regularly offers workshops and conferences on various aspects of military history.
In summary, the “Club Day” in Wilhelmsburg on September 27th will be a varied and informative afternoon that offers both entertainment and education. The community is looking forward to numerous visitors and a successful event that celebrates the cohesion and diversity of its club landscape.
