The Sound Swimming will be a very special event this year: On July 5, 2025, participants and spectators will celebrate the 60th anniversary of this traditional open water swimming event. This Saturday, over 1,100 swimmers are expected in Strelasund to complete the approximately 2.3 kilometer route from Altefähr on the island of Rügen to Stralsund. The waterways and shipping administration has already asked for increased attention in the fairway, because safety first is the motto here.

Registration for the anniversary sun swim started in January 2025 and was quickly booked up. However, if you couldn't get a spot, you have the chance to get on the waiting list. There are still places available for children's swimming, which also takes place in Stralsund. The safety of the participants has the highest priority. That's why lifeguards, medical staff and boat crews are on site to be able to intervene at any time if something goes wrong.
