Darß Festival 2025: Premiere of The Heiden von Kummerow” on July 4th!

The anticipation for the Darß Festival is increasing: on July 4, 2025, the festival opens with a brand new production of Ehm Welk's stories, as the Ostsee-Zeitung reports. Under the title “The Heathens of Kummerow – How it all began,” visitors can experience the premiere on the open-air stage in Born. This in-house production is not only the start of a theater cycle lasting several years, but also promises humorous, summer theater fun for young and old.

The action takes place in 1910, shortly before Easter, and addresses central themes such as friendship and home. Director Niklas Ziemann describes the production as entertaining and full of theatrical enthusiasm. Since 2013, the Darß Festival has been offering a series of episode-based in-house productions that have already enjoyed great success, such as “The Heiden von Kummerow” and “Die Gerechten von Kummerow”.

Diverse program and special action days

The varied program of the Darß Festival is impressive. In addition to the main narrative, there are also numerous guest performances and events. For example, the Darß Nature Film Night will take place on August 10th. Visitors can also look forward to special promotional days.
