DRK office closure in Stralsund: What does that mean for citizens?
The office of the DRK district association Rügen-Stralsund in Stralsund will be closed on October 31, 2025. The association's headquarters is located on the island of Rügen, while the secretariat remained in Stralsund after the merger in 2013. The decision to close the office was made due to decreased demand, particularly after the DRK tracing service was discontinued this year. However, digitalization and the availability of departments via email and telephone offer direct support for citizens' concerns.
Despite the closure, the existing offerings, such as the daycare center, the after-school care center and the social center in Stralsund, will remain in operation. A mailbox at Hafenstrasse 21 still allows you to contact the DRK. In addition, the local associations Schwedenschanze, Grünhufe and Franken are available as contacts for the people in Stralsund.

Current developments and commitment
A family day, which took place on May 18, 2025 at the technology and training center in Bergen, brought together around 800 guests and offered happy togetherness. New emergency medical vehicles were also introduced in Bergen, Sassnitz and Baabe to improve emergency care. A successful crowdfunding campaign for a new refrigerated vehicle from Tafel Stralsund also reached the donation target of 6,900 euros, which underlines the committed cooperation of the community. The German Red Cross e. V. is not only active nationally but also internationally, embedded in the Red Cross movement. The principles such as humanity and impartiality that guide the DRK are expressed in comprehensive humanitarian aid - whether in crisis situations or when carrying out social actions at home. The clear structure with the federal association, 19 state associations and numerous district associations shows the effectiveness and organizational talent of this proven institution. Information about this can be found on the DRK homepage. It remains exciting to see how the DRK's offerings and organization develop in the region, while at the same time the connection to the community remains strong.
