Swastikas on the train: Federal police are looking for perpetrators in Western Pomerania!
In a terribly unfortunate incident, a local federal police station discovered unconstitutional symbols on the regional express 3512 that ran between Demmin and Stralsund on Sunday. Loud daily news A total of seven such symbols, including swastikas, were recorded in train toilets and on window panes between 4 and 5 p.m. The alleged graffiti was carried out with a fiber pen, resulting in damaged glass doors.
The incident goes beyond mere property damage. The federal police in Stralsund have started investigations into the use of unconstitutional license plates, and a call for help has already been launched. Passers-by and passengers are asked to provide information about the perpetrators by telephone or email.
A disturbing pattern
However, this is not the first incident highlighting anti-constitutional symbols in the region. Already in the summer of 2024, scattered swastikas were discovered at a skate park on Friedrich-Wolf-Straße in Stralsund. Between June 26 and July 2, 2024, unknown perpetrators sprayed several swastikas measuring up to 310 x 165 cm on the halfpipe and surrounding walls, accompanied by the words “NAZIS TO THE POWER”. According to information from Press portal The total damage was estimated at several hundred euros, and the criminal police have also initiated investigations into the use of unconstitutional and terrorist organizations.
The fact that such symbols continue to appear shows a worrying pattern in the region. This is a need for our social commitment to resolutely counter such incidents. It is important that the authorities act promptly and clearly to stop the criminals.
Extremism in focus
The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has recently expanded its range of information in the context of such events. Anti-Semitic and National Socialist symbols are a dangerous sign for the overall social climate and are now extensively documented. Reports from the Office for the Protection of the Constitution pointed out that not all unconstitutional signs are shown in the publications, but this does not mean that their use is not punishable. Banning such groups not only serves to prevent extremism, but also has a deterrent effect on sympathizers and potential members.
Monitoring extremist tendencies and promoting awareness of such signs are essential. It is in our common interest to support all efforts to stop unconstitutional activities in our society. The use of information material by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution is a step in the right direction and could help to create sensitized citizens who deal with the issues of violent extremism and discrimination.
The train incident and the ongoing challenges on the ground make it clear that we are all required to take a clear stand against such extremist ideologies and remain vigilant.
