The planned renovation work is by no means trivial - they include the corrosion protection of the supporting structure, the renewal of the railing and the overhaul of the hydraulic system and the electrical systems. The total costs for the renovation amount to around 440,000 euros, and the work should be completed by the end of November.

A look into the past reveals that this bridge has a long history: the original constructions were inaugurated as early as 1865. After damage in the Second World War, the bridge was demolished in 1972 and finally replaced by a new bridge in 1994, which can now hope for this comprehensive renovation. So the ferry bridge not only confronts us with its broken wood and steel parts, but also with the need to be invested in order to improve our infrastructure.
