Heat pumps in the price war: How to save up to 40,000 euros!

Something is happening on the heat pump market! Demand is increasing, but many homeowners are faced with the challenge of finding the right offer. How daily news reported, the offers are often incomplete and you can quickly lose track when reading. “This is overwhelming for many,” says Peter Kafke from the Federal Association of Consumer Organizations. In many cases, homeowners hesitate due to unclear subsidies and the strict requirements of the Building Energy Act.

Why is now the right time for heat pumps? Summer is ideal for installation, especially in regions where there is no local or district heating network available. Laura Vorbeck from the Rhineland-Palatinate Consumer Center has also started a heat pump offer check. Over 250 inquiries have already been received and enormous price differences have been identified.

Price range and regional differences

The price range for air-water heat pumps is alarming: the price for installation can range between 20,000 euros and 63,000 euros. In Wiesbaden the cheapest offer was 32,000 euros, and a heat pump was finally installed for 18,000 euros. According to consumer advocates, such differences are not always understandable and are often the result of a lack of experience among many installers.

Of the offers analyzed, it was noticeable that almost half did not contain a foundation for the heat pump and only a quarter listed all relevant points such as heating load calculation and hydraulic balancing. If you want to get an overview of the complete offer situation, you should obtain several offers and take a closer look, because necessary services are often completely missing or are not included in the total price.

Funding opportunities and advice

Another point that many homeowners should keep in mind is the funding options. Replacing old oil or gas heating systems with heat pumps is eligible for funding, and the federal government is offering subsidies that can be applied for from KfW Consumer advice center informed. Basic subsidies of 30 percent are possible, along with further bonuses for specific measures on residential buildings.

Anyone who wants to optimize or replace their heating system should note that specific requirements apply: The replacement is only eligible for funding if the building is older than five years and the heating is older than two years. Individual advice can also help here, and there are various options available.

As part of their advice, consumer advice centers offer the opportunity to upload offers and have them evaluated. Personal advice via telephone or video call is also offered. A thorough consultation can often bring clarity because it includes a detailed explanation of all the details and answers to questions. The feedback from consumers is consistently positive.

The local consulting landscape ensures that no one gets lost in the jungle of offers. The key to a successful heat pump lies in carefully selecting offers and taking advantage of the available subsidies - so that your home is fit for the future!
