Leipzig faces an eventful Pentecost weekend, at which two important events take place: the city festival and the Wave Gothic meeting (WGT). LVZ reports that on June 5, the WGT begins, which is expected to attract 20,000 participants from Germany and abroad. The event runs until June 8th and takes place in several places, including the Agra Messepark, the old fair, the Moritzbastei and the rock cellar.

The city festival, on the other hand, begins on June 6th and will attract a large crowd of around 300,000 visitors. The celebrations are distributed on five stages in the city center and end on June 8th. However, residents and arrivals have to expect traffic disruptions.

WGT visitors can use all trams, buses and S-Bahn in tariff zone 110 from Friday to Tuesday without an additional ticket. An express bus will run between Markranstädt and Leipzig from Friday to Sunday, in addition to rail replacement traffic. The regional express RE15 is replaced by buses from Großkorbetha, while the regional train RB20 drives directly to the main train station.

To avoid traffic jams that are expected for the Pentecost weekend on the motorways, the use of the Park & ​​Ride systems is recommended. These parking spaces around Leipzig are free of charge and should make traffic to the city center easier. Shame movements are expected in particular on the A9 in Saxony-Anhalt, between Köselitz and Vockerode as well as between Naumburg and Droyßig.
