Senior dance in Bismark: moving to the Landhotel Mehrin brings joy!
The joy of dancing remains unbroken, even if the conditions are constantly changing. In Saxony-Anhalt, this is particularly evident in senior dance, which has had fewer offerings in recent years, but is still in great demand among the older generations. MDR reports that the popular senior dance in the “Weißer Schwan” inn in Bismark, which was often sold out, has now moved to the Landhotel Mehrin in the Altmark district of Salzwedel.
The organizer Hannelore Netzband, 87 years old, has been taking care of the dance afternoons for years and with this step has adapted to the wishes of the dance-loving seniors. By switching to the new hall, the number of participants was even increased by 20 more interested people. Despite the new location being around 12 kilometers away, the couple from Jeggau, who had tried to get an impression of the new hall in advance, had no reservations about making the journey.
A new home for dance
The atmosphere in the new hall remains the same: dance enthusiasts gather over coffee and cake to enjoy the music and shake a leg together. DJ Burkhard, the experienced pensioner, traditionally creates the right atmosphere with a selection of older music. While Hannelore Netzband stands out for her joy in organizing it, some Bismarkers express concerns because they previously had the opportunity to reach the dance event on foot or by bike.
However, the parades cannot only be observed in Bismark. The dance afternoons are also in jeopardy in Tangermünde, as the popular organizer Renate Adloff will be 85 years old in January and may give up her job. Similarly, there is also concern in Tangerhütte about the DJ Peter Rösecke, whose continuation of the dance events is also in limbo.
A festival for all dance enthusiasts
But it's not just the regular dance afternoons that are very popular. On November 16th and 17th, 2024, the event will take place as part of the International dance weekend A big festival for all dance enthusiasts will take place in Magdeburg. The host is the USC Magdeburg Senior Dance Center, which offers a diverse program for every age group and experience level.
Renowned dancers, scientists and therapists will offer workshops and courses on fitness, gymnastics and dance exercises. The entry prices are kept within reasonable limits: a course costs only 5 euros, a day ticket costs 8 euros and for 15 euros you have access to all courses on both days of the event.
This is not only an opportunity to do sports, but also an incentive to strengthen the community among seniors and take an active part in life. Who knows, maybe dancing will even encourage some people to leave the worries of everyday life behind them. Because as the saying goes, if we're not allowed to sing, we have to dance - according to the motto of [mal-alt- Werden.de](https://mal-alt- Werden.de/25-ideen-rund-ums-tanzen-wir-duerfen-nicht-singen-dann-muessen-wir-tanzen/).
