Carnival of Cultures 2025: A festival for all Berliners in Friedrichshain!

Berlin-Friedrichshain, Deutschland - On June 8, 2025, the highlight of the four -day carnival of cultures took place in Berlin, which delighted with a colorful move through the Friedrichshain district. Almost 70 groups with around 4,000 participants moved across the Frankfurter and Karl-Marx-Allee and attracted numerous spectators. Organizers expected around 650,000 visitors. The police estimated the number of spectators in the "six-digit area" and had used around 1,500 civil servants for security, including support teams from Brandenburg, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony.

The move took place for the first time in Friedrichshain this year after it was traditionally carried out in Kreuzberg and Neukölln. Even before the move, there were restrictions on traffic around Frankfurter Allee and Karl-Marx-Allee. These were necessary because the move had to be diverted due to a large construction site in Gneisenustraße. The medium strip of the moving route, which is considered a protected biotope, remained inaccessible to the viewers.

diversity and sustainability

The 68 groups also included 13 newcomers, including 22 groups that consisted exclusively of Berliners. After a downpour before the move, it usually stayed dry during the event, even if some strong gusts of wind occurred. For safety, around 125 incorrectly parked vehicles were towed, and traffic restrictions will be maintained at 8 a.m.

An important aspect of the carnival of cultures is the promotion of diversity and peaceful coexistence. This festival has taken place since 1996 and attracts people from all social classes. The organizers appealed to visitors to avoid garbage and act environmentally friendly, and announced a large "clean-up" campaign for Whit Monday.

cultural highlights

The carnival started with an international street festival on Friday at 4 p.m. at Blucherplatz in Kreuzberg. Various cultural programs were offered here on several stages, including theater performances, performances and interactive events. There was an age -appropriate program for younger carnival fans.

A total of handicrafts, culinary delights and information from sustainable companies and initiatives presented themselves at 350 stands. Among other things, visitors were able to take part in a solar craft station or enjoy delicacies such as organic crepes.

The spectators are invited to experience the diversity and the colorful magic of the Carnival of Cultures, where the focus is on community and cultural exchange. The event attaches great importance to peaceful coexistence, and extremist attitudes are not tolerated. Admission to moving and street festival is free, and the financing is carried out by the state of Berlin as well as sponsors and donations.

The Carnival of Cultures, a feast of joie de vivre, not only sets a sign of diversity, but also offers space for the coexistence and living out of cultural traditions in Berlin.
