August 24th, 2025 is a day that cycling enthusiasts in and around Magdeburg have marked heavily in their calendars. The ADAC Cycling Tour, embedded in the supporting program of the Deutschland Tour, will take place this Sunday. On this day, Magdeburg will become the center for around 2,000 participants who are looking forward to driving through a car-free city center and the surrounding streets. The event not only promises top sporting performances, but also a colorful supporting program for the whole family.
The ADAC Cycling Tour starts at 8:50 a.m. at the Sternbrücke in Magdeburg. Two different routes await participants: the Großer Börde Loop of 118.7 kilometers with around 700 meters of altitude and the Kleine Börde Loop of 48.6 kilometers with 250 meters of altitude. True to the motto “The goal is always Magdeburg”, the finish will take place at the Petriförder, where the first athletes will be welcomed at 10 a.m.

Participants can prepare for exciting competitions. At the Großer Börde Loop, Benjamin Ahrendt won the men's race with an impressive time of 2:46:18 hours and Anette Ostermann was the fastest woman in 2:57:40 hours. The Kleine Börde Loop also attracted numerous participants, with Matthias Hahn (Team Gute Mood Sport) winning the men's classification in 1:07:13 hours and Linda Striebing (Rothai Bikestore Lawi) winning the women's classification in 1:15:54 hours.
A celebration for the families
But the ADAC Cycling Tour is not just for racing cyclists. There is a varied supporting program for the whole family. At the ADAC stand there are not only practical bicycle services, but also fun for the little guests, such as the ADAC bouncy castle “Beetle Slide” and the popular photos with the mascot Buddy and the vintage Trabant. The ADAC is also planning numerous information offerings, including on bicycle insurance and the job of an ADAC employee.
The ADAC Cycling Tour reflects the current trend: cycling is becoming increasingly popular as an environmentally friendly means of transport. According to the current ADFC cycle trip analysis 2023, 4.6 million people went on a cycling trip in Germany in 2022. The number of cycling trips is almost at pre-pandemic levels, meaning cycling is experiencing a real boom.
