Corona news: Börde district remains without any new infections!
On August 10, 2025, the situation in the Börde district, Saxony-Anhalt, is encouraging. No new coronavirus infections were reported yesterday, bringing the total number of cases registered since the beginning of the pandemic to 78,475. There have only been two new infections in the last seven days, resulting in a 7-day incidence of just 1.2 per 100,000 inhabitants [news.de].
Looking at the intensive care bed situation in the Börde district, a similar picture emerges: out of a total of seven intensive care beds, six are occupied, but no COVID patients are currently in the intensive care unit. This gives hope that health care in the district will remain stable.
Total figures and news from Saxony-Anhalt
The nationwide figures show a similar picture. 96 new cases were recorded nationwide on August 9, 2025. The total number of people who tested positive in Germany is now over 39 million. Mortality remains constant at 0.48%, with 187,790 recorded deaths from or with COVID-19, as corona-in-zahlen.de summarizes the current figures.
In Saxony-Anhalt itself there were a total of four new infections and another death on the same day. The 7-day incidence here is also stable at 1.2 per 100,000 inhabitants. A look at the age groups shows that most infections are in the 5-14 year old age group, followed by 15-34 year olds and 35-59 year olds.
The new Nimbus variant in focus
Particular attention is currently being paid to the newly discovered Corona variant Nimbus (NB.1.8.1), which was identified for the first time in January 2025. This variation of the Omicron variant was classified as a “variant under observation” by the WHO in May 2025. Fortunately, there is no evidence of more serious illnesses, which brings some relief to citizens.
It remains to be seen how the situation will develop in the coming weeks. Many hope that the quiet situation in the Börde district and beyond will remain stable. Everyone's health is always our top priority and while the numbers are encouraging, it remains important to remain vigilant.
