Volunteering Award Stars of Sports: Apply now and win!

The clock is ticking! Sports clubs only have the opportunity to apply for the “Stars of Sports” until June 30, 2025. For the 22nd time, Hannoversche Volksbank and its branches are looking for committed associations that have distinguished themselves through their social commitment. This important volunteer award is awarded in collaboration with the city sports association, the Hanover regional sports association and the district sports associations in Hildesheim and Celle. The campaign receives special support from the patron Paulina Paszek, a canoeist who shone with silver and bronze at the Olympic Games in Paris, and who is also looking forward to numerous applications, such as Celler-Presse reports.

The CEO of Hannoversche Volksbank, Jürgen Wache, calls on everyone interested to take part. The application is easy to apply online and can be filled out in just a few minutes. There are attractive cash prizes for the club's coffers, which can certainly support many athletes in the region. So if you haven't submitted yet, you should hurry up and take advantage of the opportunity. You can find more information about the application online at Hildesheimer Presse.

Price categories for committed clubs

The special thing about the “Stars of Sport” are the different levels that can be won. These are:

  • Großer Stern des Sports in Bronze – Regionale Ebene
  • Großer Stern des Sports in Silber – Landesebene
  • Großer Stern des Sports in Gold – Bundesebene

These three categories offer clubs from a wide variety of regions the opportunity to present their outstanding projects and achievements to a broad public.

Volunteering in sports

Another important topic that should not go unmentioned in this context is volunteering in sport. Around 75,000 volunteer referees work in Germany alone, a number that shows how important volunteers are for sports. Whether in football, athletics or other sports – the referee needs a good hand in order to conduct the games fairly. You can take on this responsibility from the age of 12 (in Lower Saxony from 14 years), which is a great commitment for both young and older sports enthusiasts. The German Football Association (DFB) promotes this effort through various programs and support, as can be found on the Malteser website.

So use the remaining time until the end of June to nominate your club for the “Stars of Sport”! There are many opportunities ahead of us to strengthen regional sport and promote young talent who do volunteer work. Because more is possible in a community - and this is especially true in sport!
