Snow and thunderstorms in Bavaria: a change in the weather is imminent!

The weather situation in Bavaria is currently keeping not only meteorologists on their toes, but also everyone who longs for summer. Today, July 9, 2025, the weather is unpleasant, with the snow line already falling to 1,800 meters. Loud Mercury Fresh snow could be expected in the high mountains by Wednesday morning. The thunderstorm warnings have also recently lost intensity, but some regions, including two districts in Upper Bavaria, are still under observation.

It seems that summer has taken a short break for some regions of Bavaria. Dark clouds appeared to be moving over Munich as thunderstorms moved across the city around 2:15 p.m. The outlook today is cloudy with occasional showers, and temperatures vary depending on the region from 16 degrees in the Bavarian Forest to 23 degrees west of the Spessart, according to the latest forecasts from German Weather Service.

Current weather warnings

Although the thunderstorm warnings have largely expired, the weather remains tense. The DWD warns of gusts of wind that can reach speeds of up to 70 km/h, accompanied by heavy rain and hail. The weather situation is dominated by a low pressure influence that brings moist, cool sea air from the northwest to Bavaria. Therefore, the soils in the higher mountains can expect gusts of up to 50 km/h, which makes staying outdoors not entirely pleasant.

Looking ahead to the coming days

The outlook for the next few days promises a change in the weather. From Thursday temperatures will rise to up to 26 degrees and isolated sunny spells are forecast. But even if we can look forward to somewhat friendlier weather, showers in the eastern low mountain ranges and southeastern Bavaria cannot be completely ruled out. Health-conscious people should not ignore the wind when outdoors, as it will also be noticeable in the coming days. A weather mix of sun and clouds awaits us on Friday with highs between 20 and 26 degrees.

The next two weeks will show general warming, but also the possibility of further precipitation and possibly thunderstorms.
