SG Börde ladies start in the top league: staying in the league is a big goal!

A rise with a breath of fresh air: SG Börde's first women's team shows what it can do. After an impressive last season in the association league, which saw the team finish second in the table, the women can now hope for a new chapter in the handball league. There was ultimately promotion without any additional promotion stress as there was no relegation. Sportnews Hildesheim reports that the Börde ladies have a big goal in mind when looking ahead to the coming season: staying in the league in the Oberliga, the fifth highest division in German handball, which is the second highest level the regional associations for men and women.

However, with the promotion there were personnel changes in the team. Emma Abmeier and Finja Köhler moved to the second women's team at SG Börde, while Rosa Krill, Mandy Mohrland and Milena Meyer left the club. New to the team are Mia Froböse (Eintracht Hildesheim), Melanie Mikolai (TuS Empelde), Marisa Gutsche (TV Hannover Badenstedt) and Marie Danzer (MTV Großenheidorn).

Intensive preparation for the new season

The first training session after the end of the season took place on June 11th and preparations are now in full swing. The coaches have drawn up a plan that will optimally prepare the players for the challenges of the league in three phases. The first phase involves working with the ball, followed by small group games and the introduction of new defensive formations. This phase ended with a test game against MTV Rosdorf, which was lost 36:38. The following phase focused on athletics and strength training, while the third phase included the return to the hall, with particular attention to attack tactics and counterattack concepts.

In order to further test the form, several test games are already planned. Some of these have already taken place: on August 9th against Lehrter SV and on August 10th against HSG Liebenburg/Salzgitter as well as another upcoming game on August 30th against TuS Empelde. A highlight in the preparation phase is the Börde Cup 2025, which will take place on August 23rd and 24th in the Schellerten sports hall and will also attract the Börde women.

The challenges of the major league

The top league won’t be a walk in the park for the Börde ladies. The league is considered to be balanced and has some strong teams such as Northeimer HC, VfL Wolfsburg and Germania List, which should prove to be real test stones for the young team. The first game of the new season is on September 13th against MTV VJ Peine. SG Börde is particularly motivated and wants victories in the derbies against SG Zweidorf/Bortfeld and Eintracht Hildesheim. The derby against Eintracht Hildesheim is scheduled for September 20th and promises pure excitement.

The expectations are high and the goal for the season is clear: maintain the class and develop the team further in order to possibly come back even stronger next season. The organizational aspects of the Oberliga, such as the joint scheduling between the regional associations, also provide a framework in which the Börde women can prove themselves. Wikipedia) highlights that the Oberliga is the fifth highest division in German handball and thus offers the players an exciting platform for their development.

The SG Börde Handball is looking forward to the coming season and is ready to write the next chapter. The fans can look forward to exciting handball sports!
