CITY CYCLING 2025: Börde starts cycling season for climate protection and fun!

This year's CITY CYCLING season in the Börde district was ceremoniously opened on August 25, 2025. The first cyclists set off from Haldensleben to take a significant step towards climate protection and a better quality of life in the community. After just one day, 926 participants were able to cover the impressive distance of 19,784 kilometers. A total of 1,555 people have so far registered for the popular cycling campaign, which runs until September 14th and has already achieved remarkable numbers in recent years. Last year's record of 284,135 kilometers cycled is on the brink, and the community is doing everything it can to beat it. In addition, registration and team formation are possible up to the last of the 21 working days stadtradeln.de/landkreis-boerde, as landkreis-boerde.de reports.

CITY CYCLING is not only an environmentally friendly initiative, but also promotes a sense of community. The municipality of Niedere Börde is once again taking part in this world's largest bicycle campaign by the Climate Alliance. The main goal of the campaign is to cover many everyday journeys by bike, which not only benefits your health, but also helps reduce emissions and reduces the participants' ecological footprint. Here are some benefits of participating:

  • Stärkung der Gemeinschaft und des Radverkehrs.
  • Reduzierung von Emissionen durch weniger Autofahrten.
  • Motivation und Freude beim Radfahren – sei es für den Weg zur Arbeit, zur Schule oder in der Freizeit.

Last year, 152 cyclists took part in 19 teams, including 18 parliamentarians. They covered a total of 30,162 kilometers on 2,573 trips. This year too, the signs are good that the number of participants and the distances covered will continue to increase. Everyone who lives, works or goes to school in the community is encouraged to register, which is easy to do www.stadtradeln.de/niedere-boerde is possible, as niedere-boerde.de explains.

Joint efforts for a greener future

CITY CYCLING is just part of the effort to promote cycling in Germany. The initiative is supported by various organizations, including the Working Group for Bicycle-Friendly Communities in Saxony-Anhalt e.V. and the Ministry for Infrastructure and Digital Affairs of the State of Saxony-Anhalt. These partnerships are crucial to implementing projects that are intended to strengthen cycling in the long term and improve mobility in cities.

The application process for funding for cycling projects is carried out in a two-stage process. Municipalities interested in such projects can submit project outlines. Detailed information is available on the website klimaschutz.de available, as klimaschutz.de informs.

With such committed support initiatives and an increasing awareness of the benefits of cycling, the Börde district is optimistic about the future. A little more movement on the roads and fewer exhaust fumes - that's clearly a step in the right direction!
