Fatal crash on L50: Senior woman dies, granddaughter seriously injured!

This afternoon, November 5th, 2025, a tragic traffic accident occurred on the L50 between Wanzleben and Schleibnitz. A 68-year-old Dacia driver lost her life. As the Central German newspaper According to reports, the woman crossed into the oncoming lane for reasons that are still unclear and crashed head-on into a truck with a trailer.

The situation escalated when the 60-year-old truck driver tried to evade, but still collided with a Skoda driving behind the Dacia. All vehicles involved were damaged in the accident. Tragically, the 68-year-old was trapped in her vehicle after the collision and was freed by firefighters. However, an emergency doctor could only determine her death.

Serious injuries to family members

What is particularly tragic is that the accident victim's granddaughter, a 13-year-old student, was also in the Dacia and had to be taken to hospital with serious injuries. Luckily, the 39-year-old Skoda driver and the truck driver were uninjured. The L50 was completely closed for around four and a half hours due to the accident investigation and the subsequent rescue and clearance work.

Accidents of this type often raise questions about road safety and behavior. According to statistics from Eurostat Over 20,000 people died in traffic accidents in Europe in 2022. This high number once again makes it clear that road safety should be given top priority.
