Zeitz: Cooperative pays 4 % dividend and relies on green energy!

In the heart of Zeitz, the Zeitzer housing cooperative celebrates a successful financial year 2024 and has a special gift for its members in their luggage: a dividend of four percent. The representative assembly announced that the distribution should help the members to beat the increasing expenditure of everyday life. CEO Karsten Bacza had a lot of positive things to report, also of the investments of around 1.6 million euros in repairs and modernizations.

The assembly of 18 new balconies at Gutenbergstrasse 13 and 15 stands out among the many innovations. The ambitious goal of the cooperative is a "green" development that is not only reflected in the conversion of the cooperative house, but also in ecological measures. This includes a photovoltaic system that has been supplying solar power for the wall boxes of company vehicles and technology since last year. The interior conversion of the cooperative house is still in full swing and promises a friendlier living atmosphere.

sustainability in focus

A special focus is on the climate-neutral energy supply in the apartments of Dietrich-Bonhoeffer-Straße 81–84. Planned measures provide for the renovation of the balconies and the installation of a tenant's current system through the municipal utilities on the roof. Tenants have the option of creating their own electricity through a balcony power plant, which is not only environmentally friendly, but also lowers the costs. Tenant electricity is considered a future-oriented project and offers the cooperatives numerous advantages, as Solarimo reports.

The Zeitzer Stadtwerke is already operating ten photovoltaic systems on the roofs of the cooperative, with a forecast annual performance of impressive 480,000 kilowatt hours. Through these measures, the cooperative not only positions itself as a pioneer in the energy transition, but also sharpens its profile in rent extraction. Tenants benefit from long -term cost savings, because the self -produced solar power is guaranteed to be at least 10% cheaper than the local basic supplementary tariff.

a step into the future

Developments in Zeitz are strongly reminiscent of initiatives in other cities, which also rely on sustainability. One example would be Copenhagen, which is striving for by 2025 climate neutrality and pursues innovative solutions in the areas of renewable energies and mobility. There, similar to a comprehensive concept for CO2 reduction and a strong focus on citizen participation, you take a comprehensive concept. Copenhagen uses hidden resources, for example through a sophisticated district heating network and the promotion of electromobility and bicycle traffic to significantly reduce emissions.

At a time when the requirements for an ecological lifestyle continue to increase, the Zeitzer housing cooperative 1st May shows how you can look into the future with a good hand and innovative ideas. The members can look forward to a committed year in which not only their financial needs are alleviated, but also an active contribution to climate protection is also made.
