Brazen series caught: detention after bike theft in Dessau!

A 25-year-old man is currently causing excitement in Dessau-Roßlau after being taken into custody on Thursday. He is no stranger because the police already know him well. Without a permanent residence, the man is often in Dessau-Roßlau and Zerbst. On Wednesday, he noticed the officers at the main train station when he was struggling with a bike and cracking his castle. The federal police then addressed him and temporarily arrested him. The search was particularly revealing, in which not only delivery notes were found, but also the content of two packets that were addressed to an address in the Dessauer Georgengarten. Tragic: the packages had already arrived in the mailbox, but the recipient had not yet received anything.

The stolen goods that the police found with him could come from further crimes, but there is still a clear assignment. The suspicion of him is reinforced by an incident on June 22, in which he stole food worth around 25 euros from a petrol station in the pine path in Roßlau. Even a shoplifting on June 25th in a supermarket in Franzstrasse is not not taken into account. The shop detective had seen the 25-year-old food in his backpack and left the business without paying. The police were informed, which finally led to his arrest.

Legal aspects of bicycle theft

The legal consequences for such crimes should not be underestimated. Died definition of theft in the German Criminal Code (StGB) includes the removal of a strange movable thing with the intention of adopting it illegally. Bicycle theft in particular can often be observed in Germany. According to [anwalt.de] (https://www.anwalt.de/rechtstipps/abeige-wegen-Bahradiebiebiehiebiehiebe- orfahlei-kein-kein-kavaliers-Kavaliers-Kavaliers-Kavaliersrikt_181236.html) it is primarily shopping, pocket and bicycle thefts that deal with the police. Theft is pursued ex officio and can be reported by any witness. In the event of theft, the victims often have to wait a long time for them to get their bike back, or they even never get it again. The lack of a bicycle is often noticed late, which makes the investigation difficult.

The penalties for bicycle thieves are diverse. For example, the unauthorized use of a vehicle can be punished with a fine or a prison sentence of up to three years. In the event of a simple theft, even a prison sentence is threatened up to five years. The circumstances of the crime and the intention of the perpetrator play a crucial role.

Security for wheel owners

In view of the high number of bicycle thefts that are recorded in Germany, it is advisable for owners of high-quality bikes or e-bikes to find out more about bicycle insurance. According to [gdv.de] (https://www.gdv.de/gdv/statistik/BahrraddieftieFieble-statistik-statistics-Tatistik-statistics insurance), special bicycle insurance often offer more comprehensive protection than conventional household insurance. These policies not only cover theft, but also damage and vandalism and can offer reimbursement to the new value or current value - depending on the election of insurance protection. With the current theft numbers, this could be a sensible investment.

The public prosecutor's office in Dessau-Roßlau has submitted prison in this case, and the arrest warrant was issued after a demonstration by the judge at the district court. The 25-year-old was then taken to a correctional facility. The investigation continues and it remains to be seen which further details will come to light.
