Grimma dances to the top: championship title for hip-hop juniors!

The hip-hop juniors from the Blau-Gelb Grimma e.V. dance club have danced their way to the top and recently took first place at the East German Championships in Dessau-Roßlau. This great result is demonstrated by the girls from the “Groove of the Valley” team, who won the title in their age group. Preparations for this major competition began well in advance and included completing old choreographies as well as rehearsing new solos and duos. The enthusiasm for dancing was noticeable for numerous dancers, which was also reflected in the results.

In Dessau-Roßlau the dancers managed to qualify for the upcoming German Championships with 176.5 points. They achieved notable bronze medals in both the solo and duo divisions, highlighting the achievements of the entire club. And that's not all: the dancers also rocked in the “Junior 1 Duo Show” category and secured the gold medal, while Annelie Hemme and Hanna Zaulich achieved second place as East German runners-up. These successes impressively show how important the preparatory work for such events can be.

However, the dance club's success story does not end here. After the summer holidays it's time to say: New courses have been announced! From Friday, September 15th, the dance club will again be inviting you to hip hop and modern dance in the sports hall of the Grimma secondary school. The hip hop class for children ages 6 and up begins at 3:30 p.m., followed by modern dance at 4:30 p.m. Registration is easy and can be done via email or WhatsApp - anyone who enjoys movement and wants to try out dance can take part.

And that wouldn't be all: even before the summer holidays, the club's juniors took part in the Zwickau Open. The event took place on February 8, 2025 and was organized by the DTHO. Here the dancers also achieved impressive placements with a great performance, which impressively demonstrated the fun and hard work. Coach Ronny was an important motivator for the team, and the result speaks for itself: Laila took 4th place in the “Junior 1 Solo Freestyle” category, while Paula and Fabienne won silver and the duo Frida and Marleen took home the gold medal.

With all of this, it becomes clear that hip hop dance is not just a physical activity, but also an art form that promotes fun and community. The Blau-Gelb Grimma e.V. dance club shows that you can achieve a lot with a good hand and a good dose of passion.
