Rapid speed controls and serious accidents in Dessau-Roßlau!

On the night of November 7th, 2025, there were several striking events in Dessau-Roßlau that kept the local police on tenterhooks. Fortunately, on a day that started like a normal Thursday, a comprehensive speed check was carried out on the B184 traffic front in Roßlau.

A total of 4,120 vehicles were measured during this inspection, and it turns out that more than one in 19 drivers were speeding. Of these, a considerable number of 217 vehicles exceeded the maximum permitted speed of 70 km/h. What particularly caught the eye was a vehicle with a top speed of 131 km/h - someone clearly pressed the accelerator pedal too hard! Particularly noteworthy are the significant number of violations and the frequent speeding, which should give officers pause. This measure was initiated by the police to raise awareness of road safety and to raise citizens' awareness of more considerate driving behavior. Saxony-Anhalt reports about it.

Traffic accident on the L 120

But it wasn't just speed control that presented the officers with challenges. On the same day, around 11:32 p.m., a traffic accident occurred on the L 120 between Meinsdorf and Thießen. A Daimler Benz van, driven by a 47-year-old man, left the road for reasons that are still unclear and crashed into a tree. This posed a serious danger to the driver, who was trapped in the vehicle and could only be freed through the intervention of the fire department. He was taken to the Dessau-Roßlau Clinic with serious injuries, while the vehicle, which was totally damaged, is now in the custody of the police for a technical assessment.

The L 120 had to be completely closed for some time, which resulted in total damage of around 30,000 euros. This also shows how important responsible driving and paying attention in traffic are.

Driving without a license

Another event that concerned the police that day was a vehicle check on the BAB9, during which a 34-year-old man was caught driving without a valid driver's license. The driving license class he presented was insufficient for the vehicle combination he was driving - a VW car with a trailer. The officials promptly intervened, prohibited further travel and initiated criminal proceedings. Fortunately, the man was quickly able to organize a new driver who could provide proof of the necessary driving license class.

This turbulent news from Dessau-Roßlau shows once again how important it is to travel safely and according to the regulations. We hope that such incidents will soon be a thing of the past and that all road users will drive more responsibly. Because at the end of the day, traffic safety affects us all, and good traffic behavior benefits the entire community.
