Serious accident at the Lingenauer triangle: Peugeot and Opel collide!

On June 19, 2025, there was a serious traffic accident at around 9:30 a.m. on the B184, near the Lingenauer triangle. A 54-year-old driver of a Peugeot was trying to overtake several vehicles when he collided head-on with an oncoming Opel, whose 73-year-old driver was also involved. Both drivers suffered minor injuries in the accident, while their cars were no longer drivable after the collision and had to be towed away. The material damage caused is estimated at around 15,000 euros.

The accident led to significant traffic delays on the B184. The road had to be completely closed during the accident investigation and rescue. Fortunately, the connection between Dessau-Süd and the A9 was reopened around 12:15 p.m., so traffic gradually started rolling again. Such incidents highlight the importance of keeping road safety in mind.

The situation of traffic safety

In Germany, as in other European countries, the accurate recording of traffic accidents is an essential part of the traffic safety strategy. According to statistics from the Federal Statistical Office, data on traffic accidents are used not only to analyze the events themselves, but also to develop measures in legislation and to improve traffic education, road construction and vehicle technology. The statistics from Destatis offer comprehensive insights into the structures of accidents, the drivers involved and the causes, which in many cases have a decisive influence on the number of accidents.

Another aspect that is becoming increasingly important is cross-traffic accident risk analysis. This not only provides an overview of accidents resulting in personal injury or property damage, but also includes accidents during the transport of dangerous goods, which could further increase safety on our roads.

Safety data from Europe

To get a complete picture of road safety, data at European level is also important. Eurostat thus offers an excellent resource that provides information on traffic accidents and their consequences. This data is important for state transport policy and helps to specifically improve the infrastructure and take safety measures.

Given the increasing number of vehicles and increasing traffic density, it is crucial that every road user takes responsibility. Vigilance and respect in road traffic can make a decisive contribution to minimizing the risk of accidents like the one at the Lingenauer triangle.
