Festival of Ideas: Silbersalz 2025 inspires with 100+ events!

The “Silbersalz” festival is back and invites you to experience science up close. The eighth festival will take place in Halle (Saale) from October 29th to November 2nd, 2025. Installations, lectures, discussions and film screenings will be offered at 14 different locations in the city under the motto “It's fun!” gather. n-tv reports that over 100 events are waiting for participants.

This year the focus is on exciting topics such as quantum computing, artificial intelligence, renewable energies and biotechnological innovations. The festival aims to make science tangible and to promote the exchange between science and art. “A spark can trigger great things,” say the organizers, who point out that the motto stands for the connection of ideas, people and technologies. They have a good hand with the selection of program items: around 140 guests, including scientists and artists from different countries, are invited to share their perspectives and provide new food for thought, like this Silver Salt Festival describes.

A varied program

Visitors can look forward to a wide range of activities. A central event location is a former department store with around 8,000 square meters, where workshops, exhibitions and film screenings take place. The interactive installation “Loop” on the market square, which invites guests to take part, will be particularly interesting. There will also be the “Come, sit down” discussion format, live podcasts and an awards ceremony. The film screenings, which include 24 films and six short film programs, are particularly likely to attract many people. German premieres can also be expected that deal with topics such as space, nature and wildlife, and artificial intelligence.

Halle's mayor Alexander Vogt names “trust, transparency and dialogue” as key terms for the festival and emphasizes the importance of the platform character. Over 34,000 visitors found their way to the events last year and lively interest is also expected for this edition. Admission to all events is free and makes science and art accessible to everyone.

If you want to be inspired and experience new ideas, you should mark the time in your calendar. The Silbersalz Festival in Halle is an event that creates encounters and encourages rethinking. Further information can be found directly on the Festival website as well as on social media channels. There’s something there – and not just in the figurative sense!
