On July 19, 2025, an exciting racing day took place in Harz that will remain unforgettable for many. The focus was on the hurdle race over 3400 meters, in which the hot favorite Cabot Cliffs took part under the care of trainer Christian von der Recke. Cabot Cliffs, who had already triumphed in Italy at Group I level, left no stone unturned and won the race comfortably, another highlight in his successful career.
Jockey Hakim Tabet, who was praised for his ride on Cabot Cliffs, was confident after the race: “I knew early on that I was riding the best horse in the race,” said Tabet. In an impressive performance, the horse not only won against his immediate competitors, but also against the expectations that come with being a favorite. Cabot Cliffs had previously won the Gran Corsa Siepi d'Italia, another hurdle race that went over 4,000 meters and offered a prize of 30,000 euros. Here he was able to convince with a lead of a good three lengths over Mauritius and Real Wild Child, two other talented horses. Mauritius and Real Wild Child are led by Josef Vana jr. trained and show how strong the field of participants was.
Those responsible behind Cabot Cliffs are not only proud of their four-legged competitor, but are also already planning the next step.
