The police assume a fatal swimming accident and suspect that the man drowned. Given the latest statistics from the German Life Saving Society (DLRG), this is not an isolated case. In 2023, 411 fatal accidents have already been registered in German waters, an increase of 31 deaths compared to the previous year. It is the third consecutive increase in drownings since 2019, which has prompted the DLRG to intensify its educational work, especially for parents of young children, to make them aware of the dangers in the water.
