After the fire disaster: Fortuna Dingelstedt is celebrating a comeback!

The feet of SV Fortuna in Dingelstedt am Huy have solid ground under their feet again. After a devastating fire in March 2023 that reduced the clubhouse to rubble, those responsible are now optimistic that games can continue under the containers currently installed. Through numerous donations, they have made temporary solutions possible, providing both changing rooms and showers. The tragedy of the incident is reflected not only in the loss of the clubhouse, but also in the destroyed premises of the local shooting club. Chairman Ulrich Rittmüller describes the situation as a “catastrophe” – over a hundred years of club history and many trophies have been irretrievably lost.

The fire, which started in the kitchen of the clubhouse, caused significant material damage, estimated at up to one million euros. The damage to the building was so severe that it is inaccessible due to the risk of collapse. But despite this huge challenge, those responsible for the club are looking forward: the construction of a new clubhouse is scheduled to begin in the winter of 2023, which is a small ray of hope after the darkness.

Is the fire due to arson?

Another fire in the region raises questions. On the night of Monday, August 12th, a clubhouse on Berger Heisterkamp caught fire. As the CZ According to reports, the fire started in two containers that were used as storage rooms. This quickly spread to other containers and the wooden clubhouse, resulting in property damage amounting to 50,000 euros. The police have started an investigation because there have been similar incidents in other clubhouses recently.

The TuS, which uses the storage space together with FC Firat, is aiming for a quick reconstruction in order to keep the time until normality as short as possible. FC Firat Bergen is also planning a fundraising appeal to collect replacement materials for the materials destroyed in the fire, including benches, refrigerators and sports equipment. So far, 400 euros have already been received, which shows that the cohesion in the community is strong.
