Fabulous hike: How Günther conquered the Harz in a wheelchair!
in the deep forests and on the picturesque hills of the resin, a fascinating world full of legends and myths unfolds. Carsten Kiehne, a passionate narrator and hiking guide from Bad Suderode, has made it a life work to keep these stories alive. For over a decade, he has been collecting fairy tales and anecdotes together with his partner Manuela Petri and has published more than thirty books. He recently experienced a moving encounter on a special hike to the Paracelsus resin clinic, which not only touched his heart, but also that of his hiking group. On March 4, one day full of fresh air and unforgettable moments, an older man named Günther took part in the three-hour tour in the electric wheelchair that Kiehne had organized.
At the beginning, Kiehne questioned whether Günther could master the challenges of the hike because the path had steep climbs ready. But the group was determined to support the senior. Together they helped Günther push the mountain up. "It was quite exhausting," admits Kiehne, "but when we arrived at the top, the joy of what was achieved was overwhelming!" For Günther, this ascent was the highlight of his stay in the clinic, and Kiehne was also one of the outstanding experiences of his 14-year career in which he carried out over 1,500 narrative events and hiking tours.a place full of myths and cultural heritage
The Harz not only attracts hikers from a distance, but is also a treasury of stories that keep the culture and history of the region alive. The hike along the natural myth path near Braunlage offers the participating nine hands -on stations that deal with the relationship between humans and nature, among other things with the symbolic power of trees and the relationship between wolf and humans. So the hike becomes an experience that goes far beyond physical activity.
The efforts of Kiehne and his partner help ensure that the old stories of the resin are not forgotten. "We rent the beautiful nature of the resin not only for our tours, we really live it," says Kiehne. This unique connection from culture and nature attracts historical, spiritually open -minded and adventurous people. "The resin is accessible to everyone, even for those with special needs," he emphasizes.
diverse adventure in the Harz
The region has much more to offer. An overall range of hikes extends over the most beautiful corners of the northernmost German low mountain range, which has its highest point with the Brocken (1,141 meters). Whether on the Harzer Hexenstieg or the Goetheweg, the enjoyment of the breathtaking nature and the cultural highlights is guaranteed. Day hikes, guided tours and special offers - such as the hiking week with five selected tours - make the Harz a popular destination for hiking friends. With a combination of mystical stories and the beauty of nature, the participants are offered an unforgettable experience. "It is important to me that the stories are passed on and everyone can experience the beauty of the resin," concludes Kiehne. So the resin not only remains a hiking destination, but also a place of storytelling and the community.
